More about the plants
Salvia
A member of the sage family.
Beloved by bees for their spires of nectar-rich flowers.
Produces masses of violet-blue flowers from May to July and beyond.
Grows to about 60cm or so.
Astrantia
Astrantias come in a range of subtle shades that combine beautifully with showier plants.
They’re very easy going but do prefer dappled shade and moist soil.
Flower from June to July (And sometime into September)
50-6ocm
Also known as Hattie’s pincushion and the considerably less charming, Masterwort.
Briza Media
A native grass, also known as quaking grass.
From tight mounds of slender leaves rise up tall slender stems bearing small heart-shaped flower heads that quake in the wind.
These flowers are often tinged green and purple and age to a beautiful buff to interest right through till winter.
An absolute favourite. My garden is full of the stuff.
